It’s not a horrible story, but ML is a different kind of trash. He supposedly loves her, but continuously lies to her, the story is still unveiling and I think it’s okay enough. I don’t have an issue with understanding the story and am curious why the ML made the choices he made

It’s not necessarily bad, but it is mediocre. The translation does become confusing in some parts, but it should still be understandable to an extent. The chapters are just a build up to the very moment she leaves the Duke whilst slipping in some truths and other material that will later on be explained.
