I like that he spared the people who didn’t have a choice vs those who betrayed his father.
For those of you who are confused there was a massive power struggle in the sect and there was basically a coup. That’s why they poisoned him, to weaken his position. Now that he knows there was someone else backing the coup he needs to get stronger so that he can defend against any retaliation by the more major sect and to get stronger he needs to go to the place that will be unsealed there. Unfortunately there are going to be people stronger than him there who want him dead so before he goes to get stronger he needs to get stronger.
