I think most people think that recovering memories after an amnesia is as easy as in fiction but in reality, they may not recover it at all. Moreover, the FL hasn’t shown up in his life for 7 years or so, which means, there’s no trigger to prompt his mind to recall anything about her. With determined mom like that, ML sure had it tough to be hated for something he didn’t do.

It’s normal to not recover memories though. Even in real life, it’s purely up to luck to get those memories back, especially if there are nothing that could trigger it to come back. Also, the grandma did not know they had a child, do you really think she would allow her descendant to be raised outside their care?
