My take is that Leon has the hero blessing, so he gets saddled with the world dumping all of it’s expectations and hopes on him….. then he goes to the academy where geomma being a chad makes him doubt himself, then he gets is hands on a shiny new toy called balmung and goes to geomma to test it out and try to get some self validation…. only to get dunked on by a kitchen knife…. now the impostor syndrome is hitting him hard
