@ RheaSilvia That’s how I remember it too. But isn’t it that she fell in love with Poseidon or he fell in love with her or whatever. They were in love and he took her to Athenas temple which Athena didn’t like cuz she has a beef with Poseidon so she cursed his girl friend and her two sisters (which is like rude, not her fault)

To be fair, Medusa just being a snake is a simplification. She’s a gorgon, which is supposed to be dragon-esque with tusks and wings, and obviously the snake hair. Only in later myths was it a curse bestowed on her by Athena, and she began as a human priestess.
