Finding out you are a character in a fictional work would be depressing, unless you assume the people reading the work are also fictional characters in someone else’s work, ad infinitum.
Or o put it more simply, everyone in all the mutiverse is a fictional character to someone else.

Every time this suspension of being a fictional character arises in stories i remember the kdrama “W, two worlds”. In which a fictional character finds out he’s fictional and his whole world crushed… So stay out of it please…
