“why do authors like to put so many ml” Throwing my two cents cause I see this question SO MUCH on this site. Main reason: i’s meant to boost the MC and ML. It’s a very simple way of building credibility, promoting the MC as a valuable character that others admire so much as to put them on a pedestal, as well as saying the ML is better than all these other extremely fine or high ranking alternatives. Of course some stories are better than others at displaying this, but this is a very common trope with an admittedly simple answer.
