@HarshCrisis what you said is true and I admit I have some ships/moments that I think are cute but I still don’t being that even the prince is her best option. He is out of touch with reality and like you said he was tempted to kill her eclis isn’t the only ml with yandere themes it’s also Callisto too.

It really sucks that a good majority of the readers commenting don’t understand Penelope’s position at all in this. Ever since she’s become Penelope the tragic character made out to be a villainous her life has been put on the line. Every corner poses a threat and these videogame characters – these love interests are directly connected to each and everyone of her unfortunate endings. Knowing that there is a world outside this storyline of course her only concern is to escape it through the only means she knows how which is to see hard mode all the way through. Is she supposed to see these characters as people with feelings? There’s more important things to worry about than FL building wholesome relationships. She hasn’t got much time and needs to find s safe route to go 100 route with and y’all want her to pay attention to the prince and the puppy and the rabbit… She doesn’t deserve any of the blame for how messed up Eckles becomes. He was always going to be twisted. He had it good and she treated him as well as anyone could but of course she won’t open her heart to him. For the same reason she can’t open her heart to Winter or Derrick. He’s not trustworthy. In the end they use each other. The Prince is the only good one amongst the LI si why cry the decline in his mental state? Even if she was focused in him and genuine and loving there’s no saying he wouldn’t become the same way. He already planned to make her like him and when she least expected he’d kill her. But what kept him at ease was her cold personality and the fact that her smile never reached her eyes. He was intrigued and knew he was needed for some reason and that kept him in line ultimately until he developed this possessiveness over her. He’s the unhealthy one unaware of boundaries.
I agree with what many others are saying but also – I’m preeeetty sure Callisto made it SO OBVIOUS TO HER ABOUT HIS FEELINGS. AND SHE STILL DOESNT UNDERSTAND 🤣 also for those who haven’t read the novel yet, I HIGHLY recommend you do!! It’s so good!!
Eclis did betray but also not really. He brought back the real daughter of Eckhart to kick out Penelope so that she can only rely on him.
His obsession for her literally got worse 😭
But if we read it carefully, eclis also used FL to escape and likely pretending so the fl would like him.. I’m fully understand the FL.. Stuck in the game with everyone hating her as a villainess and can be killed anytime soon. If its were me, I’ll do anything to escape from there too.
I feel sorry for Eclis too. I know to fl they are just game characters but it’s still sad… and I think anyone else in his place would feel betrayed and played with so later on if he’s going to go mad or betray fl, to me that behavior is totally understandable💔🥺
