It’s really not fair for him that she’s treating his feelings with no worth and respect. If she can’t believe in herself or in the plot, the least she could do is to believe in him. To believe that he is a worthy man with conviction. But she’s focusing too much on herself and her insecurities and failed to notice that he’s a person with feelings and freedom to choose. Not just a character in a book that controlled by the plot, because she has proven it herself that she could choose against what was determined for her in the story. If she can, why can’t he?

@ColorSchemed I’ve always felt these stories were rebukes against the idea of “soul mates”. Rather than having a “destined one”, we’re more likely attracted to people who are both good-looking and good-hearted. I like to think our FL is both a believer in soul mates and consistent with her initial goals. It’s just frustrating because her beliefs don’t match reality and it’s hurting an innocent person. But there’s a lesson there too, for those who wish to learn it.

I know people think she’s stupid, but wasn’t the book she read literally all about destiny? Lots of superstitious people believe destiny can’t be changed, so I kind of get it?
