100% with the comments. I really get tired of FL’s being presented as “So smart and pretty and shy and modest and not like other girls because she don’t know she’s beautiful” tropes/types that then aren’t depicted as smart at all when it counts – lacking in common sense, and literally reinforcing her own victimization at every step. On one hand, I get it, in reality people can get this way from CPTSD (which she most certainly has) – but as a medium meant for ‘entertainment’ I’m starting to wonder when we’re going to see any resolution to any of her problems at any point; we’ve not gotten much ‘revenge’ for being a revenge story… It’s all been passive damsel in distress for ages as more and more problems pile on. Makes it hard to stick it out when there’s so little pay off.
