She’s not stupid, she’s just not familiar with nobility.
Remember she is born and raised a commoner, a class of people who are far removed from the culture of nobles and royalty. It’s why she is seeking out the ex-duchess.
She actually has good instincts, it’s just the headmaid keeps steering her away from them that’s cauing her issues.
But once she learns from someone who used to be a noble, i think she could florish quite well.
