   I do wish that, just once, a protagonist would simply spell it out to one of these wicked stepmother/father/brother types:
   “Stop taking out your sense of betrayal by your husband on those that had no choice in the matter. Just because he’s a selfish dick doesn’t mean you had to retroactively earn it. You’re getting to the point where you absolutely DESERVE that all your children died before you, you monster.”
