@EcalleB – This is how people who were constantly bullied since a young age act. She knows that she is a commoner and that the interest of the Duke and Duchess comes from her helping their daughter in the orphanage(her perspective) She is afraid that if she leans on them, like she depended on the black haired man from that guild, she might be disappointed and betrayed. After all it is known that nobles are fickle. The moment Diana stops caring about her, the duke and duchess might as well.
From the perspective of someone who has been bullied, had no one to depend on and was always struggling to gain the recognition of the person she admired in her past life, she is acting exactly like she should be.
Also, she said that she wanted to live freely without attachments to the house and depending on them would mean that she is attached. Aaand she is a child. A child retaliating against adults that bully her – telling someone will only fuel their disdain and jealousy for her. She is acting according to her perceived age and trauma in my opinion.

Wow~ I’m so annoyed with MC again. Does everybody remember how a few chapters ago we (the readers) were just annoyed with MC not speaking up and just “bearing with it all”? Well, now I’m back in those same feelings. I’m really f*cking annoyed by her again. She’s actively letting them get away with bullying her.
