I have a feeling psychy is the Real heir, the Duke knows it. She’s either a collateral line, or the dukes line is collateral and somehow usurped the title somewhere…..he might have even dumped his own daughter so he could replace her with psyche….in the past he got rid of her becuase she was “weak”/brainwashed and he could…but now he’s Afraid of her because she’s standing up to him.
