There is so much you don’t know about the father. True, he failed because he is terrible at raising his daughter, but he is not a bad parent. He always did everything to make sure Jubelian never got into trouble, whether it be intimidating people or straight up torture. It is thanks to him that Jubelian grew up without being mistread or abused by any of the people in the household, or other nobles for that matter.

I agree that fathers in manhwa shouldn’t be excused for everything they do just because they’re handsome and showed ONE sign of affection all of a sudden. Like he still gave her a knife and told her to k*** herself instead of defending her in front of everyone.
And a the end, they suddenly become someone else just because the new daughter acted nice. Love doesn’t depend on such little things, if you don’t love her to the point of not caring about her death, then there’s no way that would change.

I get that the cold Duke (this makes me cringe but whatever) is not really capable of expressing his emotions properly but like he is STILL her parent, are you THAT incapable of taking care and showing affection to YOUR child? He could’ve expressed through his words, actions, gifts, things like that, like even in fairy tales when the children play with a dragon, they have a intimidating face but they still entertain and care for the child so that the child knows that they don’t mean harm😐😐like dude like you had so many years and chances and yet you still failed, and also no fucking good parents just “don’t come to me for that kind of reason” when your child comes to find you just see you because you’re so incapable of taking care of your child emotionally that THEY ,A FUCKING CHILD has to seek for YOUR ( a parent, adult) affection, yeah the author sucks and don’t even know what consequences of actions is and have a emotional intelligence of a chicken
