Hess is working from a wrong assumption. She’s angry at the prince and Diana because she loves Kael and also for her own sake, though she dumps it mostly on him so that she can keep fighting as she has a low self-worth.
So if she can’t keep fighting because the target of those dumped feelings and motivations has said ‘oh, that’s not me, that’s all you’ and her low self worth tells her that she doesn’t deserve anything, what other conclusion can she come to than that she is utterly useless now?
The wrong assumption is ‘Kael will want revenge/justice too’ but he never did. He’s kind of a passive guy and he doesn’t blame his own actions on them. He blames them for THEIR actions, but not for his suicide attempt, which Hestia DOES.
He only sees them as kind of terrible people interpersonally and probably has low self-worth too, but Hestia can’t conceive of that, as he is very beautiful and clever and capable.
And that’s what he thinks of her, too.
So a whole ball of wrong assumptions, tangled together in knots.
‘It won’t matter to Hestia if I tell her to stop, right? We can just relax and she can stop obsessing over getting revenge for me and her health will improve, we’ll spend more time together…’
‘Why is it that Diana gets away with everything just because a damn book was written about her?? Does this mean no matter what I do, I’m doomed to have the same ending as before? I’d rather die quickly and painlessly, knowing Kaelus survived this time than to slowly deteriorate from illness again’
Are probably the thought processes that led to this.
He doesn’t think Hestia could possibly take it that seriously because she keeps making it about avenging HIM and he just took that at face value. And Hestia thinks this means she can’t change anything and everything will just eventually ‘fix’ itself and that’s a horrible and disgusting thing to contemplate because that means she’ll always be miserable and never truly win at anything.

Hestia breakdown from the novel wasn’t exactly about Diana, it was about the fact that if she doesn’t go for revenge and bury herself in all that plotting, she will have to face the reality that this is no longer a fictional world that she can’t leave and eventually she comes to terms with it with the help of her beautiful husband.

Right?? While the novel wasn’t exactly the best in some aspects, they skipped over the depth and seriousness/cause of Hestia’s breakdown. The way they did it here feels a bit sudden and eccentric?

Well I understand Kael for saying he just doesn’t want to do anything with Diana anymore and so. But still, Hess has been fighting for him. Telling her to just drop it like that would definitely hurt her and make her panic/distress. I think Diana should answer and be held accountable to all her mistakes, so I go with Hess here.

If i was the one who saw kael offed himself id be furious too. This is stupid diana does nothing even the healing power she has is gone now because of her twisted devotion. Diana needs to be stripped off her title. Royals have duty the crown prince and his father should know that its stupid to cling on something so rotten because of some emotion.

I’ve read the novel for this, and this is a rough spot, but have faith on our FL. She loves Kael and he loves her. She just has to get over this.

Before judging this chapter read earlier chapter 1st. Hays. The story has ups and down dont expect to be all on the side of the main couple.

Hess is a fan and she wants her favourite happy… diana showed her true self to hess so hess is right when she asked kaelus why’d he forgive diana so easily… kaelus wants them to be happy. He just doesn’t want anything to do with diana… anyway it’ll be a happy ending and diana will be punished

WOW so interesting to see how divided people are in the comments. From the outside, I get why people think Hess has an unhealthy obsession. But as someone who has been wronged and traumatized myself, I agree with Hess. She’s not obsessed with Diana; she’s obsessed with JUSTICE (or what she believes is justice in her mind, which is revenge). And guess what: revenge IS obsession. From a story standpoint, it wouldn’t make sense for Hess’s character to give up so easily. AND you know the main couple cannot be happy so easily after finally getting together; there HAS to be conflict (not that I agree with or like it, but that’s how these things go). For them to move forward successfully as a couple, they’ll have to be able or willing to see/understand from the other person’s point of view. Kael needs to figure out how to successfully approach and understand his wife, and Hess needs time to cool down and think things thru and forward. Curious what they’ll do with this. It’s a test for a couple for sure.

Her resentment towards diana is not just for kaleus it for herself too. The fact that when kaleus came to her house in the last life she was so ready to help him and move forward. She shopped all happly but returned to his lifeless body in the middle of her house, then when she went to get blessing she thrown out of the church with pristes saying diana is a royalty now she will not be treating commoners. It’s not for kaleus she needs to forgive them too but she didn’t realize that. And she probably still thinks he is holding her because she was useful but if he does not want revenge anymore she wouldn’t have any use so she would need to leave.

I called it! Hess is just too obsessed bro
Platinum Hair Princess
She’s way too obsessed with his past relationship!
Like a weird stalker vibe…she’s more invested in it than he is…and it was his past relationship, not hers!!
She’s freaking weird!

I think this is like the “story” still stirring itself towards the end its written to be. Maybe because Hess is the anomaly that she’s been swayed to off herself so the story stay on its course. I think🫠
