Hating her because she’s a bastard is stupid because she is already the Saintess. The Saint is basically the founding myth of their kingdom/empire.
The writer doesn’t understand how strong religion can be in people’s minds. Even if she’s a bastard she’s proof of the divine. Challenging her status is proof of challenging the goddess herself and the foundation of their kingdom.
The writer gave so much weight to the status of saintess, only to snatch it away from MC with something shallow like she’s a bastard.
If the saint is important, then MC’s standing should be higher. If it’s more important for people to be born “legitimately”, then the meaning and position of the saint is diminished and so saints wouldn’t be very important. It’s one or the other. This sort of setting does not allow both to exist side by side in one character.
This writer wrote something confusing just to make MC pitiful. I can already tell this is not going to be a fun read.
I obviously put more thought into the setting than the writer did. I really f*cking hate when that happens because it means the writer is an amateur hack.
I’m just ranting. Sorry you had to read all this.
