I think authors don’t know how to write normal human interactions. Our MC is an award winning famous chef, so why would he act like that towards an award winning artist unless he was a fan, which he clearly isn’t. It’s like, if a famous football player meets a famous actor, unless he was a fan, he wouldn’t act the way our MC is.

Our Mc does not see himself as a Celebrity, he doubts himself in this regard, which was clearly shown more than once. Thanks to negative comments and the press he doubted himself, and stressed himself out, thinking he was not worthy of the Title of Celebrity chef, leading to such a huge amount of stress, that he lost his sense of Taste.
Not to mention just because you are famous yourself, does not mean you would suddenly treat others differently. There are more than enough times Celebrities reacted the same way, on video when they met other famous artists, without being a Fan.
No matter what meeting a Famous person is something special, same with a Famous person wanting to eat your cooking, no matter if you are a celebrity chef.
