I think Adeline was actually blackmailing Alfonso in Charlotte’s past life. The way Adeline gloated over Charlotte while having tea is proof enough that she is not a good person. She knew Charlotte was Alfonso’s wife and still, she proceeded to brag and gloat about her relationship with Alfonso. Also, the moment Alfonso entered the room where the two ladies were having tea, he muttered “Charlotte” not “Adeline”. If he was truly concerned about Adeline, he would have involuntarily said her name when he entered the room instead onf saying “Charlotte”. He loved her, but he could never come to terms with it because he knew Charlotte used dispicable methods to attain the position of Duchess and also, Alfonso believed that Charlotte never truly loved him. So in reality, Charlotte had a husband who loved her and no one else, and she herself loved him in return without lettim him know about it. At the end of it all, it is all a big misunderstanding that caused the unwanted deaths of many people. If we are to blame anyone, I would solely blame Charlotte’s father for teaching his children only treacherous methods of acquiring things. Even Quincy did what he did out of his love for his sister. The methods and the execution was wrong, but at the end of the day, it came from a place of love, not anger or selfishness.

I didn’t think he cheated. Maybe that lady is his step sister from mother side what is the late duchess gave her that ring as to prove her blood.
What if they were just friends and the lady found the late Duchess ring that is precious for him.
Maybe he makes that type of face because he is afraid of hurting the fl.

😮💨 yet another rehash chapter, I mean seriously we get it he had an affair, she was a huge b. We get it, so why do they keep beating us over the head with it? It’s almost like the author really doesn’t have much of a story developed, but has the backstory worked out so keeps falling back on it, because that’s all they have.
