i know they are desperate but have they thought the mage can just fuck off if they keep bothering their well being and privacy? do they want someone forced working with magic for them? arent they afraid of sabotage from the unwilling? are they dumb? if the mage wanted to work for them there is no need to hide at all, that should be clue enough…no wonder she is the first mage they see in a while, most prob stay away!
