Basically dude lost all his treasure coming back from the world where he fought for 30 years.
Now he wants to use his necromancer powers to enjoy the retired life he was promised
So as to not be considered a threat he’s using his skeletons as cheap labor to earn him a bunch of money.
He’s gone over to shoes because the porters (the people who carry the spoils from the dungeon) protested he’s trying to get into an industry where he doesn’t have to worry about taking peoples jobs
