    I am sorry , I don’t know if it’s right or wrong but if you suddenly bring a person into your home who has quite a reputation and shower him with countless gifts , it would surely raise suspicions . Instead why don’t you give him a decent job

      @Liliac I think you’re wrong. While I do think that the servants would gossip and possibly badmouth him and her, going as far as abuse is extremely short sighted. The nobles can literally bring in a dog, dress it in human clothes and give it a seat at the table and as a servant you have to play along. You aren’t there to judge or give your options.
      If she had given him a job, that would have actually brought him down to their level, but as she gave him a room in the Manor and bought him gifts of clothes and jewelry, they should have just put up and shut up.
      It would make more sense to bully him after they thought that the lady lost interest in him, then to do it the very next day while she’s still looking after him. John is dumb
