That Old magician is surely suspicious, but he take the lords oath(ML father/grandpa) so ML doesn’t question him but he is so suspicious even in the novel (I didn’t finish it yet) at this part of novel you really can feel MLs anger towards the young magician, they sponsor him but his so useless at that time
