I know I’m late to the party but all other commenters are being stupid. It’s obvious why she would have a negative reaction. She’s been conditioned her whole life to become the next speaker to water spirts/godess. That role is the antithesis to demons. She read stories with her brother about demons and her aunt probably has so many stories as well.
