   Its goblin the same way oni is ogre. Western culture just doesnt have a proper name for the mythological creatures so we put it to the closest thing we have. Our goblins have different lore, same with eastern ‘goblins’. It translates in a similar manner because of the meaning behind the word, but the background stories just aren’t attached and we dont really understand due to that barrier.
