Her father was supposed to be the duke but that jack ass won the succession battle he became the Duke and her family became Marquess. She is the heir and I suppose her father and mother died making the Duke her proxy until she came of age. I guess he knows something or really hated his brother to want to take everything from her. It’s just a translation issue but to clarify she is his niece not daughter.

Is she a niece or daughter? I’m so confused. Would a duke go after a marchioness fortune if he’s that broke? Or is he a Marquis and she’s the daughter of a duke, so he’s the proxy duke or temporary guardian?? Stupid to make her an enemy regardless, bc if I were him she’d be like a 2nd daughter to marry off as a free extra bargaining chip. The inferiority complex from whatever sibling he had must’ve been bad XD.
