   Either that or she’s somehow threatening the duke. She seems kind of sus… Or he just sees her as a precious lifeline to take down that trashy prince. I don’t think he would be threatened by prince to “protect” her. Maybe if someone gets blamed or does something to princess, the prince would use it as an excuse to punish the Duke’s household? I have a feeling it has to do with protecting his sister. OH maybe if he doesn’t use princess the prince will threaten his sister like taking her in as his concubine??

   I wonder if the duke legit likes the princess, or is just using her as a tool. I kind of enjoy stories where the ML was in love with someone else at first, but then develops feeling for the mc/our FL. I just hate when the og FL is a white lotus, mega pushover, or “betrays” the usually duke ML or og FL’s 2nd ML. Bc if it was from og FL perspective she’d almost be a girl boss for choosing power over a “cold-blooded” and controlling duke’s baggage. (I hate that those always marry the worse crown prince or smth, but you got to admit it’s a big power move.)

   I guess it wouldn’t be “aaww poor duke” if his crush married a poor farmer out of true love, instead of his royal enemy as the only person to rival his controlling authority.
