Wait What
Not exactly. Kaios is not Kynos. This is a different world (and not the novel world either, though one closer to it than the history we witnessed in the main story).
This world’s original Valetta (that is, Valetta2.0) died before she and Rein2.0 ever met, apparently in an accident. Rein2.0 was treated like Rapunzel by Baltezar2.0(?), the previous Tower Master (Hence the horrifically long hair before he sacrificed it to reach through dimensions and kidnap *Valetta3.0*). It appears that Reinhart2.0 did for the Royal Family (as novel!Rein did in conjunction with novel!Therion).
It helps to remember that this story is built on Tarot Archetypes–for example, Emperor Kynos alludes VERY heavily to The Devil, Lagris and Elise the two chained ‘demons’ depicted in that card.
Now, the Devil card is the dark mirror of another ‘trinity’ card, The Lovers. I believe the trinity of Lagris, Elise and Kaios alludes to the trinity of Adam, Eve, and the Archangel Raphael, representing the relationship of Body, Mind, and Soul.
That being said, ‘Kaios’ and ‘Kynos’ are both from Greek– related to ‘equitable and fair dealings’ and ‘Cynicism’, respectively.
