Man please, how can you write such a long text… it’s even bigger than the text in the chapter… but I get your point
Wait What
…OK, here goes.
In a situation where someone’s father tells them, at nine years old, “You’re going to be Empress later, or you’re useless” and “I own everything about you, but you dare to use your abilities to help anybody else?”–that right there is a setup for a classist patriarchy. One in which men have the power of life and death over their servants, wives and children, and particularly their daughters.
A person who will slap a child for taking responsibility for a slave they forced upon them to begin with is also someone who will beat you up, break the servant’s legs, then hogtie you and ship you off to the palace and frog march you down the isle, blaming you all the while. AND IT’S ALL PERFECTLY LEGAL.
People who say “I hate that she’s just tolerating the abuse” are not asking the right question, which is: DOES SHE ACTUALLY HAVE A BETTER ALTERNATIVE??? In a society where the servants won’t even listen to her unless she threatens them with telling her FATHER? Where even the footmen try to enforce a social order where a slave isn’t allowed to sit on the same level as a noble? Where she’s considered peculiar and inconvenient for not wanting to use a slave as a stepstool?
This isn’t even reading between the lines, people. It’s RIGHT THERE.

i mean im also mad she’s tolerating it but, isn’t she too being abused by her father
The_Cat_in_Pajamas
I hate that she tolerates the abuse. She too is being neglectful. Oh well, I go for good for them they’ll be wiped out.
