SPOILER: The OG FL is actually the author of the novel they transmigrated into and this is roughly the author’s 12th time repeating the story. Because of all the repeats, she simply lives as “K” and can’t remember her past and now just lives as the heroine and believes everything should be perfect for her, the heroine of the novel.
Every repeat, a new person becomes Edith and so far they all have died due to the restrictions the author has imposed on Edith and all the other characters. Right now, Edith has only cleared one restriction so there’s still two more she has to clear so only Killian’s character has been changing whereas literally everyone else is acting as they did originally until the second and finally the third restriction is lifted.
So yeah, Edith is trying her best. Trauma and the fact that no one has ever been on her side or believes her word as well as being beatened and starved while still working would be hard for anyone. Killian could’ve asked her for her word instead of making assumptions since he has the most autonomy unfortunately compared to all the other characters but the author still has pretty strong control over the novel.
