Aoww, they really strayed far far far away from the novel.
The manhwa itself is not bad but it would be safer to say it is nearly an different story with only the same premise.
Actually I kinda feel relieved that he is the long lost prince so he can be together with the princess but yes love story between different rank is an issue those days. Even if he is a prince but he didn’t learn to be a prince yet
I am still slightly disappointed that they simply couldn’t, COULD NOT have the kickass equestrian princess marry an orphaned assassin-turned-knight. I mean we have ALL these stories about maids and commoner saintesses and bastard girls being elevated to duchess or princess through adoption and marriage, but a man simply HAS to be a long-lost prince or god-level wizard to even have a prayer of marrying the princess.

The one exception I can think of off the top of my head right now is Beware the Villainess, but the ML still turns out to be the werewolves’ boss’ banished twin brother.
Even Priscilla’s Marriage Proposal does it, albeit very much retroactively as she married him before she even got a whiff of Kian/Cain’s royal origins (he’s still an extremely influential mercenary captain, not a literally mutilated beggar).

Frankly this social structure–men having sexual access to all women within and below them in rank, but women having access to only men within their own rank and a rank or two above–is a tool of patriarchy. It oppresses men almost as much as women, but it always, always ends with the minimizing of female authority at whatever social rank they hold–whatever they become through marriage, no one *ever* lets them forget that their power is only borrowed from their husbands. And if they marry down, it’s treated as demeaning to both them *and* their husband.

Oh, wait, I forgot Kill the Villainess, but that one goes on an ABSOLUTE WARPATH against patriarchy and Romance-Isekai norms. Yeah–that one punches up, down, both hooks and ends with a roundhouse kick. Poetic Justice for All.
historically is like that tho, but we all here for fictional stories after all so it would be nice to have a low born man climb up and have a happy ending

The missing prince is actually 12 years old Catherine’s cousin, and it’s not Leila, but Lise’s the one behind a whole different plot, no romance involved at all. I believe it was hastily made as a nod to the original story but I wouldn’t think too deeply about it.
And you could read “My second husband is desperate and depressed” the crown princess marry a guy who’s not even high nobility and SHE keeps being the one with real power while he mingles in tea parties and other social activities. They’re secondary characters but I believe you’ll enjoy them
