Idk what you expected but this is what the story eluding literally from the start, since a dukedom is very powerful family to be able to take the head down someone powerful must be backing the former duchess and usually it would be the royal family that wanted the support of the dukedom we just don’t know who it was previously. Yes it’s cliche but nothing wrong with it, similarly to “I sincerely become the Duke’s maid” or “I need to raise my sister properly” etc etc in manhwa with historical setting the one who’s plotting against high ranking family like a dukedom would be other powerful family like other dukedom, grand duchy or imperial family/royal family.

So these types of story will never be not political 90% of the times, my advice don’t read “historical” manhwa if you don’t like politics in it. Try one with drama that has no “historical” in it since it’s has higher chance to be no politics in it or modern settings manhwa drama/love stories are 90% of times not political and just love story/drama

This story started off cute and funny, now it’s being dragged down by all the political crap. I’m probably going to drop this.
