Potentially unpopular opinion: I like the prince as a contender for ML. I haven’t read any spoilers, but I have reasons.
The Pope and the foreign king are stuck in her mind as children and neither of them seem to view her as both a swordmaster AND a duke’s daughter.
The imperial guard idolizes her too much as the mercenary king and is too much of a puppy IMO.
The prince met her as an adult and has taken the time to know and respect both sides of her. I didn’t like him for it, but I think he may be the best option.
She may not be open to being empress, but with the Duke supporting and her sister and Llewellyn taking charge of the society stuff, I think she would be covered on all sides.

I think the reason she is so clueless is because she doesn’t think of herself as a member of the opposite sex, she just thinks of her self as a swordsman and protector. So she doesn’t even consider herself as a target for marriage.
