@ Melbelwel the difference between Leon and the MC is that she’s an illegitimate half commoner daughter so the other nobles at the academy didn’t consider her someone of value to form important connections with. Leon is a legitimate noble from a prestigious ducal lineage. He may also become the future Duke if his uncle is just holding the title for him in his older brothers absence (death). Other nobles at the academy and in noble society will consider Leon a person worthy of building important connections with. And once he gets over his trauma from the death of his parents and opens up to others, he’ll make friends easily since he’s got a good heart and personality.

The logic of the author isn’t making much sense. Vald said that he wants Leon to go to the academy to find connections to help create a shield for him. But there’s no guarantee of that, just look at the fl. She went there, was a top student and created no shield from her family.
