Yeah the trope is a bit ridiculous especially them getting off with no consequences. At the very least they should be fired with no letter of recommendation but personally i would have them investigated for treason as if they have the gall to reach so far above their station and treat the lady of the house this way (or even the son or daughter of their lord) then what else do they have the gall to do. She is essentially a princess now even if he is only a 5th prince a servant with any sense knows to keep their head down and their tongue between their teeth and you would hope working in a palace for a royal that anyone hired would have sense even if they were probably hired by the head maid or butler whichever one oversees the minor staff of the manor. No servant wants that kind of attention of the royals no matter how much they may giggle about it to each other over laundry also the chance of being fired from a palace with no letter of recommendation is pretty much a death sentence they would not be able to find work anywhere so even if they did not agree with their masters choice they know better then to even speak out about it much less do something about it. Also why the heck does she not have ladies in waiting even if he is a general he is also a prince she is his acknowledged wife she should have been at the very least assigned 5 to 6 ladies in waiting of appropriate pedigree. I know this is a fantasy novel and this trope is very common in them but its hard to suspend disbelief in these cases like seriously people have been whipped for less and don’t even get me started on the maids that steal from their masters lady in these novels.

Made an account cause I just need to make this comment. I just hate hate hate this trope does anyone else just get pissed off? When the FL gets mistreated by the servants like this and then after “proving” herself like she even needed to 😤 they act like nothing happened and stop the harassment. It just really ticks me off main reason why I love a “selfish” solo protag society is so annoying I hold grudges deeply so this is just so annoying. I would have only ever talked to the one maid at the beginning at least she was honest and treat everyone else like air. Especially fuck the doctor
