I mean, it was a top secret investigation, Evalle, and those take time. Plus, internal politics among the nobles, such as the Queen’s supporters, meant that the moment rumors of the investigation started to spread, the more likely the Queen and Alphas would find a way to send things in a different direction, or even destroy evidence.
Hell, it was likely that the King might not have suspected his wife being involved in the first place.
So, while he seemed useless, there are other factors to consider that’s not always mentioned upfront.

That useless king should at least give her a baron title or a lot of money because of her services to her country. She was working for him without even knowing it. God knows (and we know) that useless white hair guy didn’t do anything except know that one place was a brothel and that’s it! MC did all the investigating!
