@mtchltt, truee but let me make that clear, When it’s came from Islam you allowed to marry your cousin but more recommend “from the father’s side” bcuz the mother’s side has a very strong blood relation to each other compared (consider as Close Relatives) to the father’s side. So A.K.A it’s more safe 🙂
This thing are quite common even in the past, especially the old Royals and nobles tradition from empire or Sultans as a common work to maintain the “bloodlines”
But the thing is many cases like for ex: in the European kingdom Nations such as diseases, miscarriage, child with the short life-spans etc happens between cousins that in marriage together. One of the factor is that if they are close relatives, the genetic aspect can increase the possibility that the child’s genes will have recessive traits.
