I think Yuri was the Guardian Spirit all along. I think the Guardian Spirit didn’t vanish, it got assimilated into the bloodline. And by becoming one with the bloodline it was passed down through the descendants until it finally gained enough Spirit power to actually spawn as a coporeal being. That being was Yuri and he was protecting the entire family, even Sei. He reset the timeline to protect Sei and by doing so transfered a lot of his spirit powers into her.
