The scene where Frey eats Kania’s cooking goes into more detail. Kania grew up always thinking she was a terrible cook due to Frey’s treatment, but now that she knew his secret he was finally allowed to eat her cooking to his heart’s content. After eating, he asks where her food was, and she said she usually only ate scraps from what Frey left behind or extras while she was cooking. Feeling bad, Frey attempts to cook for her but cannot force himself to due to his injuries. Also, when Irina’s friend (the one with the shield powers) fights back saying Irina would not compete with him, he threatens her older sister who works at the Duke’s mansion. This forces Irina into a match with Frey. The reason why Frey wants to compete with Irina so bad is because she faces expulsion due to her abilities being severely limited. If she doesn’t win this match, there is a high likelihood of her being expelled, or injured in a fight against someone else.
