No, a person’s whole purpose in life is not to be of use to someone else. There are couples therapy classes where the biggest hurdle is usually getting one of the pair (usually the husband, go figure) to see that their partner’s “purpose” in life is not to meet *their* daily needs. The most fundamental “purpose in life” is to grow to be the best one can be–often helping other people to their best life is a part of that, but it is not the total sum.
No, she doesn’t know that she’s his only lifeline–_she_ doesn’t have the limited omniscient viewpoint that we as readers possess. She doesn’t know she’s the only guide they’ve got. Since she knows that this is not some kind of pocket dimension/liminal space, she’s reasoning that she’s still on Earth and this is an elaborate setup to imprison her.
Tell you what–go get kidnapped by a gang. People get trafficked all the time. Experience for yourself being completely in a STRANGER’S power who you suspect is telling you outrageous lies and are willing to resort to violence to get what they want out of you. Want a quick microcosm for that? Chinese water torture’s probably a good comparison (probably actually Italian, historically speaking).
Even Axion has figured out the points she doesn’t understand, but doesn’t know how to convince her since he technically _is_ imprisoning her. What _he_ doesn’t know is:
if given all the facts, would she choose to be a guide in an alternate dimension, or try to get back to Korea? He’s assuming she would try to go back. Which may or may not be the case, since we don’t have her backstory yet.

Hating her is stupid. Yeah she’s upset she was “useless” in her prior life cause she was an outcast and treated as an object. He literally is keeping her hostage that is a completely normal reaction to have. Is she supposed to be happy to be locked up?

To be honest, i don’t like her. Her whole purpose in life is to guid a esper. Now she found one and all she thinks of is trying to leave. For 2 pages she is just selfish and want to go pack to were she could leech with a huge salary for doing nothing.
