If you really loved your wife then you should have crystal clear about your priorities. You shouldn’t have neglected your beloved wife if you always ran off to work. And you shouldn’t have remarried if you grieved to the point you avoided your daughter for all her life – for 23 years. You remarried and you even had another daughter. Not to mention you showered love to your other daughter. You even said in the first chapter “it’s not like we can send OUR Karen to Iceberg”.
You played favorite. You even ignored the clearly visible sign of how your first born is being neglected, bullied and mistreated by your second wife and her child.
