I think this pacing is fine, it’s good to see her saying goodbye and how the people close to her are reacting. It’s showing a reminder of what she’s leaving behind, and what she has waiting for her when she returns, which are people who truly care about her. Remember, this is a story, not a summary or an outline, there’s going to be things happening in it that takes time to show.

If anything, it feels more like readers nowadays are just becoming more and more impatient. If it becomes too much of an issue for someone and the story feels like it’s taking too long, I think it’s best to just wait for the series to finish before you read it. 🤷♀️
Heck, I was reading an action series with well-paced fights, but because it showed them with enough detail, people were acting like it was getting dragged on for no reason. But if you read all the chapters involving the fight at once, it followed really well.
But it’s really become a growing problem with each new series, it’s like people want flip books instead of the plot-filled comics that they’re reading.
