Y’all, I’m starting to think you guys don’t understand that The MC can’t know everything we do as a reader. There’s this thing called an “Internal Reveal” where the characters learn information we’ve known already.
Erin is not dumb. She is a person learning things that might not have been around in the original story she read, as well as dealing with a story that’s changed because of her presence. And those changes are things she wouldn’t reasonably know about in the first place.
And this is, to me, alright.
I’m seriously thinking y’all are expecting too much, as each story is different, as well as each writer being different. That’s the fun of reading different stories.

Gahenna, in no way could the mc and father relationship be normal
1- she is an (formerly deprived of love and affection)adult in mind that still doubts if this is real affection or just about her being a dragon
2- Erno is NOT a good person, he is an evil and ruthless murderer that sure, it does love her, but he also didn’t receive a “normal” childhood
Chessie, The story kinda lost a decent chunk of the thing that made me come read it in the first place tho’
Maybe the author didn’t fullly plan things out or intended to end it sooner on like a cliffhanger, maybe her falling asleep was originally the end

Idk, after a certain point, it seems like the series was written by another writer. It became dumb and boring… Everything seems so artificial and poorly developed. This was one of my favorite stories and now it has become so disappointing that I don’t even want to read it anymore…
And Erin became so dumb, why is that???
