If you are referring to her interaction with the dowager duchess, she was tossing out information that no one was supposed to have. The dowager duchess is basically funneling money from the duchy to her maternal family. The dowager duchess’s family is not doing well in competition with the FL’s businesses. Since it’s her direct competitor, the FL already dug up the dowager duchess’s dirty laundry.
To be fair, the FL probably would have gotten around to telling the dowager duchess that Elliot was really her nephew, but the duke showed up and she realized how big of a scene was being created.
