For you and us modern people, yeah, it sounds stupid. But that’s a medieval world with deeply entrenched socioeconomical segregation, they don’t even hide how superior the nobles make themselves out to be and how worthless they deem the commoners. For people like that, it’s not weird to think that their superiority runs so deep it reaches the genetics and makes them consider the very genes of nobles to be “purer” or “more refined” somehow, like nobles, by being noble, are simply smarter and better.
