CMIIW, in the novel, Shirone will die in about a week, but the teachers and his friends including Amy believe that he is not dead. They use magic to prevent his body from rotting. When he “sleeps”, he meets someone who holds his soul back to his body. And there is a conflict with other students because they demand responsibility from Alpheas for the incident.
