She shouldn’t have forced her feelings onto him, it’s true. But he shouldn’t have let things go on this long without saying anything. He never corrected her even once. Both share some blame. Also, while she’s a bit naive & living in a fantasy world, she’s also only 18. A teenage girl. Teens are still children in many ways.

I don’t think he’s the only one at fault. She overwhelmed him since their first meeting with no regards to his feelings. She always assumed that since she loved him he automatically loved her too. Eventhough it was clear that he was hesitant and his love was more platonic. She just never read the room.
