They only have three years until the prophesized return of the dragons. I think they have the mindset that they don’t have time to baby anyone. The kids need to toughen up fast no matter how cruel it is. In their mind, the world is ending in 3 years. They can’t have weakling in Ark because it will become a burden once the ‘war’ starts.

Wtf they give the kids less than 7 hours of sleep thats so unhealthy especially if you do exhausting work all day
