Some of you forgot that the uncle wanted to know how the relationship between the Duke and the mc was going, he never told his daughter to be disrespectful or act like the brat she is, she did it on her own. I assume the uncle wanted to see if he could use ruatisha to gain favor with the Duke but clearly that didn’t go well for him.
@Melbelwel well if you go back and read the chapter where we first meet her dad and how often these types of stories tell us it’s rude to visit unannounced, my guess is the marquis figured he could treat her however he damn well wanted because he would be told when her dad was going to come back and when that happened he would start treating the FL like the princess she is and fear monger the baby into never telling about the abuse she suffered, but that all was ruined because daddy came back unannounced and saw the truth before it could be covered up.
What the heck did the uncle think he was going to achieve by treating the fl that badly? Did he not think the war was going to end? Did he really think the Duke wouldn’t want his daughter? He was receiving money to take care of the child so obviously the Duke cared about his daughter.
