Since she mentioned her retinas being the focus of her blindness and judging by the “view” of what she sees looking at her husband and the paper, she may have something called “shadow veil” or “grey curtain”.

I can clarify! It’s very rare that people are totally blind (cannot see light so everything looks “black”). It’s a lot more common for people to be blind in the way where they have no peripheral field of vision, or maybe have “pinhole” vision, or blurry spots cloud their vision, or other types. ☺️ I learned this in my neuroscience class in my grad program.
